About:
Always looking to elevate my love, I am presently volunteering for regenerative culturas for our people's well-being on Kumeyaay, unceeded land.
In 2021, I relocated back to my hometown San Diego, to help my mom transition from losing her best friend, Mi Papa. My mother is a continuous treasure of inspiration, showing me love & respect for music, Arte-Sanas, craftsmanship, & Traditional Ecology Knowledge (TEK) i.e. ancestral horticulture for sustainability.
A San Diego native, & artist; I grew up in Old Town, up the street from the state historic park, the San Diego River, shorelines, & beaches. I am grateful and appreciate the significance of my Chicana heritage, to my local and global Indigenous communities.
After birthing some beautiful souls, & starting a family 8 years ago. I am even more passionate about creating art that uplifts communities.
Presently I'm studying Kumeyaay Ethnobotany, Arts, & Culture, via Cuyamaca Community College.
With Mundo Gardens non-profit advancing social & environmental justice in our communities -- In DEC 2022, I certified as UC, Climate Action Corps - Climate Action Steward -- Continuing to collaborate on Community Art projects throughout San Diego, California, & Baja California, Sur.
Before art, I endeavored to be a Biologist with an emphasis in Bio-diversity, at Humboldt State University. I remain passionate about permaculture, and I am a Certified Installer for GreyWater Action for Sustainable Water Culture.
I resonate advocating for justice; The land, and natural cycles of our environment, La Tierra Mia -- Beaches, Shorefronts; Balboa Parks biodiversity, as well as Chicano Park's, cultural legacies, murals and community events, continue to have a profound positive influence on my family & I.
Please don't hesitate to review my resume, for a more detailed list of my professional accomplishments, and IMDb for my filmography. Following are some highlights.
I've sought training, during lunch and evenings, and exhibited at every opportunity available, while as the Lead Media Scheduler at Disney Animation Studio, and also as the Technology Concierge, Cord. at DreamWorks, SKG. My quest for knowledge led me to train with Glenn Vilppu, Karl Gnass, Mark McDonnell, Ron Pekar, Bob Kato, Randy Haycock, and Rey Bustos, "Mr. Bizaar", Victor Ochoa, and Tina Wimer, to name a few artist.
Additionally my quest for knowledge led me to train at the Escuelita de Aztlan, Brown Image Mural Chicano Park Project, Burbank Local Animation Guild, Concept Design Academy, 3Kicks Studio, Gallery Nucleus, LAAFA, East LA / Glendale/ San Diego Community Colleges, to name a few. In San Diego my academic emphasis was in multimedia and Computer Science.
Above all, I am eager to learn from the best talent to enhance my storytelling craft. I am most inspired by artists who have confronted difficult topics for social awareness, historical, and humane truths.
For example: Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi for painting feminist empowerment, with her truths. "Griz & Norm" for sharing their exemplary drawing Tuesday Tips, & artistic parenting journey. And more recently, Jorge R. Gutiérrez & Sandra Equihua, who co-created Maya and the Three, El Tigre, and Book of Life. I will forever be thankful for their creations reflecting pride in our culture; Above all for sharing about balancing parenting with art deadlines.
Like Bruce Lee, "above all, I'm actualizing myself to be an artist of life."
Thank you for your time. Salud! Wish you well!
